Featured in the Volkskrant Magazine

Proud to be two weeks in a row in the Volkskrant magazine. Together with the makers that made my journey to, through and on Batik since 2009!
In the article of Saturday 8 February photos by me of the pembatiks Ibu Sasmanah and Ibu Sulasmi that I met in 2009 and 2016 in the desa Jeruk near Lasem on Java, Indonesia, when they worked at Ibu Ramini batikworkshop KUB Srikandi.
In the article of Saturday 15 February photo by me of my embroidery teacher May Lai in Sapa, North Vietnam and drawing by Willemien Ebbinge after a photo by me of the craftseller Thao that I met when walking through the village last year.
Willemien Ebbinge also made for the first article a surprise portrait of moi, based on the photograph Harold Pereira took in 2019.
Vanessa Oostijen turned my story and journey into two amazing articles.

I am so happy and honoured to be featured like this in De Volkskrant. Thank you Vanessa!
